Title: Make persistent after install?
Post by: fladd on August 24, 2009, 08:57:58 PM
Hi there,

I used the method on the main page to install TC. Now when I log off, it asks me to specify a backup location, would that be the same as the installation is in (e.g. /dev/hda1)?

Regards,
fladd

It is best to put it in the tce directory. For example hda1/tce

I recall seeing a little discussion about this but couldn't track it down. Is there a reason it's better to have the backup file inside the tce directory (currently I have backup and tce separately under my sda1 USB stick)?

The advantage of placing mydata.tgz in your tce directory, is one less boot code to type / add to your boot loader, or one less autoscan to perform.

In fact, I now place everyting in my tce directory, including microcore.gz and bzImage. One single directrory and TC/MC is embedded and ready to go.
