Title: setting up a minecraft server ?
Post by: gobbe on September 21, 2025, 02:32:02 PM
I have successfully installed tiny core plus on an old 4GB work pc :), but installing java jdk 21 seems to be a major hassle (the version to run minecraft 1.21.5) :(

My first thought was installing from source, but I didn't get far as I can't seem to find any docs about it.
Saw some some posts about converting .deb or .rpm files to .tcz, but didn't seem like a good long-term solution, concidering that java has a bunch of deps, and they'd need to be converted aswell. :/

My main goal is just to be able to host a minecraft server on it, but I am unsure if keeping the server data after boot is possible ? Also installing java seems practically impossible at this point, any tips or help or anything is greatly aprechiated :P

Did you take a look at the java instructions on blfs?
