Title: How much RAM uses the base system (also compared to DSL)?
Post by: fladd on August 20, 2009, 11:20:56 AM
Hi there,
I am interested to know how much RAM the base system uses. I have the impression that running TC needs a bit more RAM than running DSL. I am wondering where this difference comes from (newer kernel maybe)?

Regards,
fladd

TC unpacks everything to memory.  Depending on which version and edition you use, the exact figure will change.

A general minimum system requirement is listed on the FAQ

I am asking, because I cannot figure it out myself. The panel at the top says something different than top does. Which one is right? When I install htop, this is also different.

Depends on what extensions and how loaded.
How can you compare a tunrkey GTK1 desktop with a just a Core?
YMWV depending on choices.
