Post by: vinceASPECT on December 27, 2022, 07:22:35 AM
HEllo F,

Although there are indeed.  CLOUD BROWSERS which surfice.......for getting a totally
up to date web browser...........

it can help to have options ...........say a few.

is there any forum desire or inclination to offer new TCZ's of a couple of fully compliant recent "world wide web browser" tools..?

getLatest_firefox.........isn't s seeming to operate on 64 bit TCL

Thx

.......many leading web browser  versions are around above ver  100.0.0  .....for chrome based .....or FF

.......and maybe version 5.0.0  for such as Vivaldi web Browser.

.......Do tcz's of above already exist?........where?...........64 bit too.........

best wishes,

C

It should work fine on 64bit. It does for me. Maybe you tried it while the download link was changed a little while ago? That's fixed now, so download the latest version of firefox_getLatest.tcz and try again.

I haven't tried it myself, but Brave Browser is based on the Chromium engine and available in brave-browser.tcz. That extension was updated recently (unlike chromium-browser.tcz and vivaldi.tcz).

Thanks for replying.  BEST WISHES FOR YOU

Brave is in TCL 32 bit.......hmmm
Maybe missed it when looking at 64 bit TCL

GET FF just didn't play ball on 64 bit TCL for me

many thanks indeed   (TCL is  very useful for me with a modern web browser )

Thanks

But, did you use Firefox_GetLatest.tcz or GetLatest_Firefox.tcz? The former should work; the latter, shouldn't.

Hello,

Thanks so much for your "up to date" web browser advice

Brave  browser............  Hope it's about Chromium ver 105.0.0 or better since

it does not have Live update capability

Sure it certainly will enable further "bleeding edge" CLOUD BROWSER VERSIONS of web browsers to be used from within it

.........not tried Brave but heard reasonable reviews.

.........

You see,  this blurb above is me consolidating.........for intermittent hardware issues here....

thanks for your help...........there.

brave-browser in TCL13.x x86_64 repository is version 1.46.144, based on chromium 108.0.5359.128. I've been updating the extension roughly every 3 months.

AFAIK in TCL brave-browser is only available for x86_64.

Hello Juanto,

My best wishes to you  for the future.

Uh.........thanks .

......... Will simply do the only thing i know how to do which is put the "web browser TCZ file" into the TCE directory and hope for a correct  install and RUN when it's clicked.

.....hope your link is to a TCZ as a single self contained App.

(that is what is so great about those "APP IMAGE" files which are single APP files  for Linux  .........it seems a nice approach  since they should work on any distro........IMHO)

well,  all your efforts are appreciated........thanks

It  seems Some impending Nightmare is due to happen here.......can feel it

............. it's a SIMPLE TWIST OF FAIT that it's  even  possible for me to use LINUX........ at all
  ( Tinycore) ..........

...........due to covid, my telco freely upgraded 10 million people to unlimited DSL data (for life) ..........  i am a person in that pool of people.........

..........otherwise i would have had to use Linux on a 30 gig DSL limit........

30 isn't TOO BAD but it's got to be a "monitored usage pattern"
otherwise the TELCO will hammer you will a OVERSPILL bill

Sir,  thanks

Hi, vinceASPECT. This command will download the browser and its dependencies, load them, and cause them to automatically load on subsequent boots:
Code: [Select]
$ tce-load -wi brave-browserThen you can launch the browser by clicking on its wbar icon or by typing brave-browser in a terminal.

TCL follows a traditional packaging philosophy where libraries are packaged separately from applications. The extension manager (CLI: tce-load, GUI: Apps) takes care of resolving dependencies for you.
