md5sum fails and wget error

i cannot paste more as it flunks posting to the forumn

well, I am unable to paste the shell output - but - wget gives an interesting error about an unsatisfiable range and the md5sum hash fails too.  i verified this experimentally by wgetting the md5.txt file for the package and comparing the results of the tcz hash
