Title: how to install the tc-install extension in ubuntu?
Post by: Viorel on March 26, 2021, 08:02:05 AM
Hi,
How can I install the tc-install extension in ubuntu (xubuntu)?
I found the URL, I downloaded the extension, but I have no idea how to install it… I can't make it executable.

My DVD drive no longer works, and I don't have windows to use Core2usb.

I know of this thread, but I don't have any of the problems there:
http://forum.tinycorelinux.net/index.php/topic,24233.msg153268.html

I could use 3-rd party tools (then change CDE and adjust syslinux), but unetbootin seems unavailable to download (gives an error if I try to install, it says source unavailable in the terminal), and Etcher is terrible for making USB sticks, I tried it once and not only it didn't work (it appeared to go well but at the end it crashed), but it somehow deleted the hardware device name (not the partition label, the firmware device name, I have no idea how to fix it, a search in the internet also didn't help me; a simple reformat or create partition table didn't restore the firmware name).
Do you know any other 3-rd party tool working in ubuntu?

You should be able to install tinycore to a usb stick in ubuntu using the instructions here: http://forum.tinycorelinux.net/index.php/topic,19364.0.html
