Is there some way you could place icons on the jwm desktop and be able to drag and drop these icons (and connect that to arbitrary actions), either using built in jwm features or by adding some components that works well with jwm?
I know that I can get this if I choose some other desktop environment (non-jwm based), but I would like to know if
it is possible to get these features while still using jwm.
Kind Regards

have u ever tried install pcmanfm ?
install then run it, go to Edit -> Preferences -> Desktop
if ask about the icon , create files .gtkrc-2.0 at /home/tc
add with gtk-icon-theme-name="gnome"
mark Manage the desktop and show file icons and
mark Show menus provided by WM when desktop is clicked
click OK.
you can drag & drop from pcmanfm to desktop with jwm.
but , wbar is missing although u still can access apps with right-click from mouse.
maybe somebody else can help about it ...

Thank you very much.
It worked right away and after looking at "wbar --help" I found the "-above-desk" option so I restarted wbar with this option included on the command line and the wbar showed up :).
I noticed that I could not place the desktop icons on arbitrary places on the desktop. If i tried that they were just moved back to their original position. Is there some way that I can have my icons located at arbitrary positions on the desktop?
Kind Regards

wbar is supposed to be a launch bar.. if you are using pcmanfm, perhaps using their icon manager worth a try.

maybe must add wbar option --above-desk inside wbar.sh ? because every reboot , wbar will be called without --above-desk option.
i don't know how to move the icon place , but if you see http://pcmanfm.sourceforge.net/desktop.png (http://pcmanfm.sourceforge.net/desktop.png) look like placed from left to right , not up to down.
what is icon manager ? is it create a file name apps.desktop at /home/$USER/Desktop ?
