Hello Forum,
Managed to realize a media device (disc) with Tinycore on it.
Experience is really very good.
The lovely thing is the fresh (clear) environment that's TCL's domain. It's safe environment RAM.
Apps appear Listed .........Network easily findable.
That is Both wired and wireless network.
Sound works .......for multimedia Applications.
Very streamlined efficient Tinycore system .........
The system correctly finds the very imoprtant fundamental requirements to behave as a regular
computer ........Except for MEMORY and PERSISTENCE .
This is missing and needs only a tiny Text File icon......showing Einstien "IDEA" ping in his head.
Users click and small 3 lines explains getting your current computer to remember
upon power downs----to Power UPS.........of Tiny core.
See earlier correspondence
Also the networks are not possible (wireless WI FI) to connect (Public).............unless the Tinycore
desktop shows a Web browser for users to navigate to a Landing page of City's public WI FI outlets.
Not with standing the above, Tinycore is, almost a usable computer OS...........it almost facilitates usability of a hardware computer..........as a regular usable desktop computer.....(as booted up)
Thx
Vin

Hello vinceASPECT,
I'm using tinycore for about 6 years almost every day.
You say, you're running your tce installation from disk. Probably a CD or a DVD. Written once, no further alteration, no persistence of settings or data.
Did you try to use "tc-install" of the wBar to create a bootable USB-Stick?
Boot from CD/DVD, insert an unused USB-Stick (a small one, it will be erased) and start tc-install
Your Path to core.gz will be set to that of your CD/DVD.
Use the options - Frugal
- Existing partition sdb1 On a removable device
- Mark Partition bootable and
- Install a boot loader
Formatting Options are (+)ext4
Boot Options Reference List may left empty
Install Extensions: mark all of the six
Review
a click on [Proceed] and your stick will be prepared in a minute or so.
After you have created one, reboot it and all of your downloaded extensions are saved here in sdb1/tce/optional/
They can be used immediately and after every reboot up from now.
The first progs you should install (Apps Browser) are
alsa-config,tcz
alsa.tcz
fluff.tcz
...
I hope this was the right "kick" to help you (once I had the need to get one similar to this)
Merry christmas

I also have been using Tiny Core for years. It works just as it should, on a USB drive or on your hard drive.
