Title: I want to create Opera 15 extension | need guidance
Post by: whizzywhirl on July 14, 2019, 09:28:32 AM
Hey guys, I want to create opera 15 extension for Tiny Core Linux. I have seen the corebook pages 73 onwards which shows how to create extensions. Since opera version 15 is not available for x86. I want to create one. The thing is I found only deb file od opera 15 but not code which I think is not available and I tried to convert into thetce extension using the script provided in this link
https://gist.github.com/nuxlli/ddd3fa2ceed7b2cecdd3
I know this is for small deb packages, therefore, converting didn't work for me as expected . There are people in this forum who develop extensions of opera, so I need help to where to start and how to make opera 15 extensions. Thanks in advance
Happy Learning :)

Hi whizzywhirl
Opera is closed source so source code is not available, only pre-compiled binaries. As near as I can tell, the last 32 bit version was:

Hi whizzywhirl
There's a script for packaging  Opera 11  in the  TC4  repository that may (or may not) be of some help:
http://tinycorelinux.net/4.x/x86/tcz/src/opera-11/opera-11.tcbuild

The TC4 repository has an  import.tcz  which contains amongst other things  deb2tcz.  Everything in this extension is script based
if you want to try it out or just examine the scripts:
http://tinycorelinux.net/4.x/x86/tcz/import.tcz
http://tinycorelinux.net/4.x/x86/tcz/import.tcz.dep

If you want to install it, download both files into your  tce/optional  directory. Change  squashfs-tools-4.x.tcz  to  squashfs-tools.tcz
in the  import.tcz.dep  file. Then use  Apps  Load Local  or  tce-load  to load it.

Hello whizzywhirl.
Why Opera 15? You simply want Opera (Blink) and you call it Opera 15? Okay.
Here you can download deb binaries.
https://get.geo.opera.com/ftp/pub/opera/desktop/
Linux version is available since
https://get.geo.opera.com/ftp/pub/opera/desktop/26.0.1656.60/linux/
but only in 64-bit version.
32-bit version is available since
https://get.geo.opera.com/ftp/pub/opera/desktop/35.0.2066.92/linux/

Now. What TinyCore version you use (and architecture 32-bit or 64-bit)? First try to test that specific version works with your TinyCore version.
http://forum.tinycorelinux.net/index.php?topic=21919.0
If you tell me what you need I can help you with the whole process.

Hi Neonix,
So I am using Coreplus 64 version 10.1 and architecture is 64 bit. I found this to be the latest opera browser available for linux
https://get.geo.opera.com/pub/opera/desktop/62.0.3331.66/linux/
So, I want this deb to be into tcz extension. I am really glad that you are helping me.

It would be great to have a very recent version of a proper web browser (in addition to Firefox latest)

hope you get it sorted because Opera fully supports the Chrome Extensions ecosystem. There is a converter extensions that allows Opera to run almost all other Chrome extensions  (Blink) extensions.

Ok, So uptill now I understand that I should untar the deb files and also install all the dependencies extensions and then run it using ./opera. I hope this will work. If you think I am doing something wrong. Pls tell me, I will tell you about my results after installing all extensions.

Something like:
Code: [Select]
$ ar -xv *deb
$ tar xf data*

HI, So I extracted it using
Code: [Select]
ar -xv opera-stabl3.###.deband then I used this command on data.tar.gz
Code: [Select]
tar fxJ data.tar.gz
It created the symbolic links but I am not able to run the opera. Also, I installed curl.tcz and libnotify.tcz.

Title: Re: I want to create Opera 15 extension | need guidance

So, I cd into /home/tc/usr/share/applications and there is file opera.desktop so I run this
Code: [Select]
sudo ./opera.desktopand it said ./opera.desktop command not found
Also, I checked /usr/share/ and there is no opera executable.

If what you did got you an executable, I would expect to find it in  /home/tc/usr/local/bin/  or  /home/tc/usr/bin/.

To help troubleshoot, find the opera binary and run the “ldd” command, for example:
Code: [Select]
$ ldd /usr/bin/opera.. and paste the result here.

Edit: Maybe this:
Code: [Select]
$ ldd /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/opera/opera
Edit2: This:
Code: [Select]
$ file /tmp/deb/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/opera/opera
/tmp/deb/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/opera/opera: ELF 64-bit LSB shared object, x86-64, version 1 (SYSV), dynamically linked, interpreter /lib64/ld-linux-x86-64.so.2, for GNU/Linux 3.2.0, BuildID[sha1]=fe23aa0fbe87fe3d5a3d4db168cb9cf65a6ffd7e, stripped
..shows that you will need the /lib64 -> /lib symlink

Hi ,
I am really grateful to all of you who helped me. There problem was I didn't had libcups2.tcz installed so after installing it. The opera started. Now, I have few questions why It can not be in the full screen also I am using Xorg-7.7. Other thing is I want to use it in kiosk mode
So I run this command but it doesn't run in the kisok mode
Code: [Select]
/home/tc/usr/bin/opera -kioskmodeIt runs the opera but not in kiosk mode
Also When I tried to open settings it automatically crashed and in terminal I see this error
(opera:8028): Glib-GIO-ERROR **: 01:01:33:891: Settings schema 'org.gnome.desktop.background' is not installed
Again, I am really thankful and also I want to create tcz extension from it(if possible).

Hi whizzywhirl
... So I run this command but it doesn't run in the kisok mode
Code: [Select]
/home/tc/usr/bin/opera -kioskmode ...
Usually long commandline switches like that have 2 leading dashes (ie. --kioskmode). Are you sure thats a valid switch? Is it listed
if you execute this:
Code: [Select]
/home/tc/usr/bin/opera --help
Thanks, now I can open settings but still I am unable to run on kiosk mode and also I am not able to change the window size as it is not maximized
To maximize a window, try hitting  Ctrl-Alt-M  once or twice. If you are running  flwm  or  flwm_topside,  double clicking the title
bar should toggle the size.
Title: Re: I want to create Opera 15 extension | need guidance
Post by: whizzywhirl on July 19, 2019, 08:51:41 AM
Yeah ctrl+alt+m is working as I am using flwm. But when I do this
Code: [Select]
/home/tc/usr/bin/opera --help
it shows options only like this

--with-feature:toolkit-bookmarks [Enable by default: false]

all other options are similar to like this but not any options like
-start-maximized or -kioskmode

As about --kioskmode or -kioskmode you can see from this page

What is the difference between F11 (fullscreen) and kiosk mode?
Title: Re: I want to create Opera 15 extension | need guidance
Post by: Rich on July 20, 2019, 09:16:06 AM
Hi neonix
I think in  kiosk  mode some of the browsers functions (i.e about:config). are made inaccessible to prevent users from making
changes or snooping (i.e. File->Open) through the system. F11 just toggles between fullscreen and normal mode.

I think whizzywhirl created extension only for himself. Opera 62 works in TC10 x86_64.
Do you want to create extension for yourself or you want to have it in repo?

If opera-62 is closed source, I'm not sure that we can host it in the repos.

According to Wikipedia Opera browser (Blink) has freeware license, but chromium-codecs-ffmpeg-extra is proprietary.

Hello,

uh...Opera 62   (opera 15?) i am confused.

well if i am allowed to have Opera 62 in TCL 10 x64 by somehow using it just myself.......then i'd appreciate the link to the tcz

not sure about what you can or can't put into your repo's.  If Opera 62 was allowed to be in the repo then i don't see why not

Thx

I will try to add Opera 62 to the repository (someday).

Pepper Flash works (tested). You have to
download flash_player_ppapi_linux.x86_64.tar.gz form
https://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/download/?installer=FP_32.0_for_Linux_64-bit_(.tar.gz)-_PPAPI&sType=7654&standalone=1
unpacki it and copy libpepflashplayer.so to
/usr/lib64/PepperFlash/libpepflashplayer.so
and run opera with
opera --ppapi-flash-path=/usr/lib64/PepperFlash/libpepflashplayer.so
You can also unblock flash plugin in Opera settings
opera://settings/content/flash?search=flash

Hi nick65go
Please use  Code Tags  when posting commands and responses seen in a terminal. To use  Code Tags  click on the  #  icon
above the reply box and paste your text between the  Code Tags  as shown in this example:

Quote
[code][   36.176529] pcm512x 1-004d: Failed to get supply 'AVDD': -517
[   36.176536] pcm512x 1-004d: Failed to get supplies: -517
[   36.191753] pcm512x 1-004d: Failed to get supply 'AVDD': -517[/code]

It will appear like this in your post:
Code: [Select]
[   36.176529] pcm512x 1-004d: Failed to get supply 'AVDD': -517
[   36.176536] pcm512x 1-004d: Failed to get supplies: -517
[   36.191753] pcm512x 1-004d: Failed to get supply 'AVDD': -517

Code Tags  serve as visual markers between what you are trying to say and the information you are posting. They also preserve
spacing so column aligned data displays properly.

There's a typo in startup script  /usr/local/tce.installed/opera-62
ln -s /usr/local/etc/fontd /etc
ln -s /usr/local/etc/fonts /etc
