Title: Microcore Kernel Panics on less than 64mb of ram.
Post by: daniel l. on January 26, 2019, 02:28:48 AM
The system requirements state that Microcore will run with at least 24mb, but it refuses to boot in VirtualBox without at least 64.

Was there a change and you guys never updated the requirements? Or is it just VirtualBox?

It hasn't been measured in a while. It's possible the newer kernel etc require a bit more, yes.

I tested Core-10.0.iso with Qemu and it require at least -m 47

CorePure64-10.0.iso in Qemu require at least -m 65

Is it really an issue to run any LINUX with less than 64M RAM, specially on a 64-bit hardware? Even if TC itself boots, what is about RAM required by applications?

After booting CorePure64-10.0.iso in Qemu with -m 66 there's still free 18 MB of RAM for applications. And there is also 240KB for zram swap.
