Title: WICD on TCL 8.1.1
Post by: tclfan on September 20, 2017, 02:22:14 PM
I apologize if this is a known fact as I am returning to TCL after long period and missed postings related to it...
I have installed WICD 'On-Boot' and icon WICD shows. However when I click on it nothing happens. Is there some trick to make it work? I was searching for info but found nothing... This behavior I experience in both TCL 8.1.1 and 7.2.
Any help please...

what happens when you enter the following in a terminal window:
Code: [Select]
$ sudo /usr/local/etc/init.d/dbus start
$ sudo /usr/local/etc/init.d/wicd start

Thank you. Executing these commands did start wicd. Clicking on icon in wbar does not. This kind of resolves my problem as I can use commands intead of icon. However, I have a related question you might be kind to help with:
I was hoping wicd has possibility to specify authentication required to log in to WPA2, which means login consisting of identity and password. I cannot seem to find such preference in wicd, which means wicd does not give me more than just wifi tc.

i recommend plain wpa_supplicant + wpa_gui for a nice user friendly interface.
