Title: DOSBox emulator
Post by: PDP-8 on March 31, 2017, 05:35:34 AM
I still find this very useful on occasion.  And a much lighter environment than say a full-fledged free-dos install or dosemu.

https://www.dosbox.com/wiki/

I primarily use it to run an editor (VDE editor) with wordstar keybindings that are now in permanent muscle memory.  Yes, I love vi but sometimes I find doing things in this editor gets me out of a jam faster.

And of course my choice of games is to run *another* emulator inside this dosbox - Simeon Cran's MYZ80 CP/M emulator, although getting files to it is a multi-step process.  Now THAT'S a retro experience, or perhaps an educational demo to kids that don't know how far we've come.

Thanks!

Hi PDP-8
When making an extension request you should include the architecture you are running on (X86, 86_64, ARM).

Roger that!

I'm using both ARM and X86, so would love to see dosbox available on each.

Note: while not truly practical, running a Z80 CP/M 2.2 emulator (Simeon Cran's MYZ80), inside of DOSBox, under an ARM based linux system, is quite the game.

Time to switch to decaf!

I'd like to see it on ARM.  It is already on X86, so thank you.

Spent so much time in the ARM pi, that I forgot you guys had already made it available on the X86.  Rocks!
