Title: browser for picore8
Post by: bobbintb on December 24, 2016, 02:08:41 PM
I need a browser for picore 8. Everyone seems to like Midori but it isn't available in the repo. I installed it manually from the 7 repo but when I click on the icon nothing happens, at all. It's as if I didn't click on it. I tried dillo3 but the one page I need does not load properly.

Midori is very nice, Dillo doesn't do JavaScript, required to render most modern webpages properly. I don't use piCore, so not sure if/when Midori makes it into the repo, actually i thought it was already present. Untested, in a pinch you could try QtWeb from TC7, it does not require any additional dependencies, should be an easy test, handles page rendering quite well:

Hello and greetings to all,

There are a couple of lovely browsers for Raspberry Pi.

1) Luakit
2) Kweb kiosk browser  (very good...apparently)

as a  side note there is the "omx player" custom video player (Kodi) for Rasberry pi.

thanks

Vin

I will add midori to the repo. It is in test actually and there are some glitches but you can browse sites.
