Title: Is using rootfs.gz and modules.gz as initrd equivalent to using core.gz?

Are there any differences (major or minor) that one should know about?

After some looking (i.e. running diff on find on the two's directory structures) I noticed that the core.gz had something different from the other two: the folder /lib/modules/4.2.9-tinycore/kernel/drivers/i2c

Whats the difference between the two exactly?
