There are two icons to maximize windows: one for length and one for width. Isn't there any way to maximize a window with only one click?
At the bottom left of each window, there is an orizontal "_" icon. When I click on it, the window disappears. What's the difference between this and the upper left "x" icon that closes the window?
-
"X" closes.
"_" hides.
-
And how does the hidden window appear again?
-
I suppose you're talking about FLWM?
Since FLWM doesn't come with a panel, the window minimized via the "_" icon seems to have disappeared.
It's still accessible though, via FLWM's desktop right-click menu.
-
Very convenient, thanks.
I suppose there's not a way to maximize a window at full-screen size with only one click?
-
Use a different Window manager such as icewm.
-
Thank you. I think I can live without it. I prefer the most lightweighted manager. I suppose this is flwm, isn't it?

Hi andfree

Not with one click, but if you hit:
Ctrl-Alt-M
the window will go to full screen size. If you do it again, the window will be restored to its previous size.
-
Yes, flwm :)
-
Hi andfree
Or flwm_topside if you don't like your windows sideways.
-
FLWM is a good choice regarding memory and cpu usage, however, there are several WMs to chose from, providing possibly more or different functionality.
Nice fact about TinyCore, If an extension is not loaded, it's virtually not present. Meaning you can mess around with different window managers, ignoring what was loaded the former boot.
You can destroy your system, reboot without backup, and everything is in good shape.
In other words, do experiment; if things go wrong you know where to ask. But experimenting is the way to go. Always.
-
Try jwm it's also lightweight plus taskbar and memory usage about 4 mb
-
Thank you all for your answers.

This sounds great, but it doesn't seem to work. Should I set it in some way firstly?

Hi andfree
Pressing the M key while holding down the Ctrl and Alt keys should make the window which has the focus go full screen.
-
Hi Rich and thanks for your answer.
Unfortunally the combo doesn't work for me. I wonder if I can get it work somehow.
