Post by: quellen on January 11, 2016, 03:16:20 PM
Hi,
i use firefox 0.8 for surf on the net (i have a very old PC). but it can't shows wikipedia, when i open it.wikipedia.org it says:
Code: [Select]
Error establishing an encrypted connection to it.m.wikipedia.org Error Code -8092

Can I solve?
on firefox settings i have set on:
- Use SSL 2.0
- Use SSL 3.0
- Use TLS 1.0

neither on Opera 8.52 works.
on links 2.8 Wikipedia works!

Most sites have disabled SSL 2 and 3, and TLS 1.0, because of their flaws. If some site forces https, you have no alternative but to switch browsers.

Well, you might also try to update your old firefox's code to the latest openssl, but that'd be a bit involved.

Firefox 0.8, wow! Dillo in TC 6 is compiled to use https, real lightweight. Not the best at rendering but likely a very reasonable alternative to very outdated Firefox. It's hard to do a lot of surfing without encountering https.

Oh, you might also want to try Fifth (fifth.tcz).
