Title: tinycore boots to starting X but quits on toshiba-7000ct 160mb RAM
Post by: linus72 on June 11, 2009, 08:46:06 PM
tried installing tc-2.0, but it either hangs at boot or quits right before getting to X setup
everything else seems normal, no error messages and apps are restored, etc
I did get to console using superuser code, but after rebooting after installing it would get stuck too...?
it has integrated neomagic graphics and lcd screen I think
any ideas?
thanks

Try using loglevel=10 at boot instead of quiet to get detailed boot results. Maybe you will see some errors.

thanks alot!
I am thinking about using dsl-n to install tc
problem with lappy is it has no cdrom, and can't boot from usb so
I use plop bootmanager to boot a usb
dsl-n gets to X easy, whereas dsl and feather and tc get stuck.
so, I could use dsl-n to install tc and install grub.
also, maybe I should try 1.4.3 rather than 2.0?
whjat do you think?

Many old laptops require framebuffer, Xfbdev extension (see faq).
My old thinkpad had neomagic and worked with Xfbdev 800x600.
