Title: sce-update errors
Post by: jls on December 19, 2015, 09:23:01 AM
Hi Jasonw & Co
Code: [Select]
xorg-all is a meta package of related ubuntu ones.
Gathering dependency info..

cat: /tmp/base.tmp/usr/local/sce/base/base.md5sum: File o directory non esistente
cat: /tmp/base.tmp/usr/local/sce/base/base.md5sum: File o directory non esistente
umount: /tmp/base.tmp: non montato

The below SCE's in your SCE directory will be used as
to provide dependencies for xorg-all.sce.

Is there an xorg-all.sce.dep file?  Does it have base in it, and if it does, does base.sce exist?

Ok, I see what it is, adding exit on error for debGetSceDep.  In the RC I am uploading now.

Hi
on a 2nd update,  this time not ephoto, but xorg-all, without rebooting, so with base.sce on the update dir, works, the script finds base

Ok, I am not seeing this myself as an sce in the .dep file that is not mounted and not in sce-update/ is found and used without error.

And I don't see anything in the code that should not work.

Can you manually mount /etc/sysconfig/tcedir/sce/base.sce to an empty dir?

Ok, give me the package list of base, and the dep list of xorg-all and I will recreate the sces as I am not seeing this with any of mine with updating when there is a dep file.

I re-created base.sce and imported xorg-all with base as a dep.  sce-update did not issue any errors and base.sce is in the normal sce dir.

Hi jason
seems to work now, now I cannot try anymore since there are no updates.

PS the problem of before e20-terminology empty file confusion is because you decided not to check / inform the user, if the packages in the .lst exist or no
Title: Re: sce-update errors
Post by: Jason W on December 19, 2015, 05:55:04 PM
I will ponder it, and based on the cost of performance go from there.  It would be nice to inform the user if there are packages in the list file that are either misspelled or just not avaialable.
Title: Re: sce-update errors
Post by: Jason W on December 19, 2015, 08:31:47 PM
Fixed in the latest RC.  Any packages in a list file, whether one specified or by the existence of an sce.lst file will be checked to see if the packages in it exist.  I found 5 in my main sce that are not importable, acroread, etc.  A menu pops up and the user is asked if they wish to proceed.  Like having firefox in a dCore-jessie or iceseweasel in a dCore-wily will pop up the menu as to not available, in both cases it is ok, it is up to the user to decide the sanity of their package list.

Another thing is that under /tmp/updateavailable I see
Code: [Select]
SCE:  brasero
  Available package updates:
    coreutils        http://ubuntu.mirror.garr.it/mirrors/ubuntu-archive/ trusty-updates main
    gstreamer1.0-plugins-base        http://ubuntu.mirror.garr.it/mirrors/ubuntu-archive/ trusty-updates main

    libxml2        http://ubuntu.mirror.garr.it/mirrors/ubuntu-archive/ trusty-updates main
but those packages are not being included in the sce, which is right since they are already inside the brasero deps, but for the updateavailable message this is not clear.
on a second update, this time only enlightenment-theme-gtk, no errors
Title: Re: sce-update errors
Post by: Jason W on December 22, 2015, 06:36:43 PM
I will look into the issue with the errant update output to /tmp/updateavailable.

As for the mount issue, it seems related to the -a option where one SCE after the other is mounted and checked.   I will also try and find what is going on with it.

Has anyone else seen this mount error while using "sce-update -a"?

Justed used sce-update -a, no issue but also no updates available.
My system is pretty basic though, presently only 8 SCEs.

Hopefully fixed in the new RC now, I found some remnants of what was causing an error when reading the sce dir.  Please test, I will not dig further for the updates listed for brasero until we see it is not fixed by this update.

I re-created a base.sce and an xorg-all.sce with base in it's dep file, and I can't reproduce the mount error.  Nor have I seen it with any other SCEs.

after a reboot I retried the same command, and I see

The above files in xorg-all.sce.dep do not exist in dCore repos.

Has anyone else ever seen the "Unable to mount $SCE to get needed information." error?  If so, any information will help.

The does not exist message is due to a wanted check to see if the packages in a .dep file exist.  Not needed as unlike a .lst file, the entries in a .dep files can be list file created SCEs that do not exist in the repo.  Will be removed next cut.

Aterm is a new dependency of Xprogs.

JLS - please do the following command and then test sce-update.

sudo ln -sf /bb/mount /bin/mount

That will let us know if busybox mount needs to be used for some reason to prevent the mount error.

Hi. I'm not at the pc, but I remember since the days I was using tc, that busybox mount is needed to loop mount.

Ok, I have seen that error also and it is due to an improper exit status check and I had fixed them all in sce-update.  I also just now reviewed them and exit statuses in deb2sce and sce-import and I can't find anything that should cause an error warning.   Does this happen repeatedly when running sce-update -a?
Title: Re: sce-update errors

I am going to be uploading a new RC today that involves changes to the recommends and suggests routines.  So everyone hold off on testing sce-update until then.  The new one is working well on my box.

I am testing this out on my setup. Has to be an unintended exit error code some where.

Ok, I get the same error, I will fix.  Thanks for testing and reporting.

I have made what could be a fix, but the main server is down now and will be Saturday before I can test and prove the changes as I am skipping town.

?

There's been no break as far as I know. Uptime high, ssh and web all up.

I can't ssh, reach the Downloads page, or import/update anything, but could be something in between in my direction.  Can't try again until tomorrow.

isup.me is useful in these situations.

Thanks.  It's all good now, "I can't access the server" would more accurately be what I was meaning to say.

New RC, please test.

I've chosen to look for updates for the following sces as you can read in the code,
the system updated python-efl and then started checking for the rest of the chosen sces .
Then it asked if I want to see the updateavailable, I typed Y and the script exited.
Unfortunately from the below paste something on the screen has been overwritten by the updateavailable list
Code: [Select]
epymc
express
exterminator
epour
ephoto
epack
epad
lekha

You are about to check for updates to the above SCEs. y to continue, n to exit.

Ok, was the updating succussful for SCEs that needed an update?  Did it check all the SCEs it needed to check?  Was it at the end when asked to press y to see /tmp/updateavailable?

I am not able to duplicate your repos and SCEs, so I can't test it myself.

Ok, I see what is happening, it is leaving out one or more selected entries when checking updates.  Will fix.

Hi
on a first sce-update it seems that the repos are checked twice, and there also is an error regarding /tmp/PKGEXTRAFILEMD5SUMLIST.

PS the first sce-update paste is cut due, I think, to the "clear" command for showing:
"No updates available for main or dependency SCEs."
maybe that command could be removed, so the user can see all the command output.

jls@box:~$ sce-update brasero

The double debinx fetching should be fixed now, thanks for testing and reporting.

EDIT"  Re: the clear command - yeah, I can remove it as it does make bug reporting more difficult.  I will visit it once we see this latest set of changes are stablized.
