can i save my root settings as i do when i use boot code home=sda4

Hi ulfr
If you mean a persistent /root directory, no. Maybe you could add any additions/modifications of /root to your backup?

thanks Rich
i dont want to make a backup because its simpler more flexible and faster to use persistent home
what i will do is have a folder for root settings in home that i can just copy over as needed that should work fine until i can think of a better way
thanks again

Root really should not have much that needs saving.
You can add specific files to the backup.
I have the following line in my /opt/.filetool.lst.
root/.config/mc
