I read this and tried this
http://forum.tinycorelinux.net/index.php/topic,19021.0.html
but got ftp login: Login authentication failed
I find it funny that the automatic mirrors option built in TC6 doesn't work but it could be a problem on my end.

The wget works for me on the latest Core x86. The automatic get-fastest-mirror option tries to get the mirror list from the main server, if you don't already have it, which fails for obvious reasons.

Hi limeblack.
If Apps gets hung-up after downloading mirrors.tcz and running Select Fastest Mirror, manually edit /opt/tcemirror.
Example, replace old/down repository in tcemirror with:
http://distro.ibiblio.org/tinycorelinux/

@nitram Thank you that works
@curaga Is there a way to change this behavior so it doesn't happen again?

No problem.
Is there a way to change this behavior so it doesn't happen again?
Me thinks this is a valid question. I experienced this issue in TC4 and now again in TC6. If a mirror listed in mirrors.tcz is no longer available, Apps appears to hang indefinitely (1/2 progress bar) when checking for fastest mirror. It does not appear to timeout gracefully after a few seconds and move on to test the next repository listed. It bothered me so much that as an inexperienced newbie i re-submitted mirrors.tcz for TC4. After all dead mirrors were removed, Apps successfully check for quickest mirror without issue.

There's a 10-second timeout, but it probably wasn't in busybox in TC4.

There have been lots of improvements since TC4 for sure. Just ran 'Select Fastest Mirror' in TC6 x86 again, ~ 10 count and it found the fastest despite repo.tinycorelinux.net still being down. So guess all is good. Funny problematic earlier today, maybe a fresh boot fixed.

Hi guys, http://repo.tinycorelinux.net/ is unavailable again for some reason.

Looks like another hw issue :(
