Tiny Core Linux

Hi
Haven't used Tiny Core for a while but I had an earlier version working fine as a frugal install on the EeePC.
Today I made a LiveUSB (pendrive) using Unetbootin of the new Tiny Core 2.0. Then I booted to this without any problem.
However, although most apps and utilities worked, I couldn't open a terminal.
To copy the boot files over to my harddrive, I had to open a Tty.
Now, I can boot to TinyCore 2.0 from the harddrive, but still I can't get a terminal to open. Is this a known bug or am I just unlucky?
The only error I picked up during boot was "Intel_rng: FWH not detected".
Any help in diagnosing what might be wrong here?

Does this happen with all the options (from wbar, and all menu choices)?
Any related messages in the console when you exit to prompt?
The file /tmp/wm_errors might have something too
All terminals working fine here, and nobody else has so far mentioned this, so not a known bug.

I suggest not using Unetbootin.
i have usb tinycore for 1.4.3 and 2.0 tomorrow/tonight.
Mine uses either syslinux or grub(ext2 or ext3 usb) to boot.
Try it if you want

No everything else works fine from the wbar.
I've tried all possible options to open a terminal from the Desktop menu, but none of them work.

There are messages about OSS problems (I've no sound as yet) but nothing of relevance to the absence of terminal.

This file doesn't exist on my system after booting

Hmmm, maybe I should try a re-install but the fact that even booting from the pendrive didn't give me an available terminal suggests this isn't going to work either.

I resolved this problem by doing a "clean" install of TinyCore 2.0. In other words, I wiped the partitions I was using as the root and home partitions for the earlier version of tinycore (after backing up both to another partition).
Now, following the official guide and a Unetbootin-generated LiveUSB everything went according to plan including the re-appearance of the terminal.
Not sure I can explain why the attempted upgrade didn't work but might be related to the fact that what was previously referred to as /dev/hdd7 has now become /dev/sdb7 (this is my root partition).
I suggest not using Unetbootin.

Thanks for this suggestion. However, Unetbootin had worked without problem for me before with this distro (and quite a few others) so I was reluctant to believe this was my problem on this occasion and indeed this proved to be the case.
