Hello,
i tried to install openssh both from Apps and using tce-load.
From the Apps program i can read status > openssh.tcz OK
running sudo tce-load -w -i > tc@box:/mnt/sda1/tce/optional$ tce-load -w -i openssh
openssh is already downloaded.
running openssh or ssh i get the message > not found
-
1. Never use sudo with tce-load.
2. Since you already downloaded it, just run 'tce-load -i openssh'.
3. Read the book.
4. Have fun.
-
Yeah,
it did the trick, but i wanted more info from the Apps window saying just "OK"
Thank you ;)
-
Well, you did not select onboot during the install, so it downloaded only.
"OK" was correct for what you requested.
-
i saw "OK" when i was still requesting download and install
-
There is no "Download and Install".
Your choices are:
OnBoot
OnDemand
Download + Load
Download Only
It says "OK" when done and there is no error.
-
what does load mean in TC?
-
You have not shown us a failure in "the right way" to install packages.
You have only shown us how you did it "the wrong way".
Unless you can demonstrate an actual problem, you should consider this closed.

Hi lepomis
When an extension gets "loaded" it first gets loop mounted and then the contents get symlinked into the main file system.
Once that happens, the files from the extension can be executed.
Onboot is like "Download + Load" except it also adds the extension to your onboot.lst file so that will automatically get
loaded next time you boot.

Thank you Rich, yeah so i don't have to modify onboot.lst each time...
so Onboot is like Download+Load+modify onboot.lst nice :D but we should never forget to run filetool.sh -b if we like what we modify ....
yeah this is closed/solved

Onboot.lst resides in the tce directory. It is not part of the backup.
You only need to run a backup if you have changed something that is included in .filetool.lst.
