Hi!
This is something hard to describe but I'll try. Having an open photo in Gimp 2 and entering the mouse pointer there appears a black angle outside the left hand corner (from top to bottom and from left to right according to how you move the mouse pointer around). This started with Gimp 2.8. In Gimp 2.6 running TC x86 4.7.7 this doesn't appear. It's very annoying and I believe that the maintainer of Gimp should check it out. I've returned to TC 4.7.7 when editing photos because of this. So my main TC x86 system is right now the 4.7.7. With hopes of a swift solution.
