Hello,

PLease can you guide me on an extension.

The VLC here is "Twoflower 2.0.4" and according to the web, Twoflower or above
has a new filter called "karaoke"

where is this filter or how to induce it?...or even how to put it there. It is possible

An updated VLC would be great (to 2.2.0 once the final release is out). They are at RC2 right now, but the developers say already of RC1 that Linux users really should upgrade because of numerous heap/integer overflows that were fixed: https://mailman.videolan.org/pipermail/vlc-devel/2014-November/100182.html

Also, the current 5.x extension does not seem to support soft .ass subtitles or the Opus audio codec. Due to the former limitation, it is of severely limited use at the moment. Subtitles used to work in the 4.x extension, if I remember correctly. Would be nice if this were fixed in a TC 6.x extension.

yes hello,

the filter is in the advanced options of "preferences" under audio near the top of the left
hand list.

This karaoke filter "mutes" the voices in a movie while allowing all other sound through. You can then play the movie with subtitles.

It's real purpose is ofcourse, for music singalongs and karaoke...but here it's used for the above
description.
