Title: why patches in TCL ?

hi

i am almost new to TCL.

i have one question: 

Why does tinycorelinux needs some patches ?
Is it while TCL uses busybox linux and the sources from kernel.org and busybox using some different coding style ?
this question goes into this direction, if i use the latest kernel.org sources without any patches to build the kernel what can happen.
