I am having a lot of diffculty getting XGui to work in Tiny Core. It boots fine to the command line but I cannot get the GUI up.
The system I am using is:
Celeron 400Mhz
128 MB RAM
Graphics card: VGA compatible controller: Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. [AMD/ATI] RS740 [Radeon 2100]
I am trying to boot from CD using both Iso:
TinyCore-current.iso
CorePlus-current.iso
I know the CDs work fine because I have managed to get the GUI working on another machine. In addition the CD-rom drive itself is fine because I took it out and tested in another machine.
I've tried a whole range of boot options after:
/boot/vmlinuz initrd=/boot/core loglevel=3
including
acpi=off, noapic, nomodeset, nolapic tce=sda1, nofb, lores
Also when I am at the CLI it does not recognise the startx command.
I've trawled through this forum to find a solution but to no avail.
My suspicion is that it has something to do with the graphics card.
I am at my wits end with this! Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks in anticipation

The fact that
Also when I am at the CLI it does not recognise the startx command.
can certainly not be related to a graphics card.
Curious, where did you see boot options "nofb" and "lores"?
"tce=sda1" will not help your cause, unless you'd have a setup to load extensions in question from /dev/sda1.
What you could give a try however is "waitusb=20", just to exclude the response of the cd drive would not be too slow without it.
