Title: tc4.7.5 boot hangs after scanning partitions
Post by: prmpec on April 09, 2013, 05:52:25 AM
Hi!

I've created a TC bootable USB stick with VMWare, and now I'm about to move to the real hardware which is an Asrock E350M1 with AMD E350D CPU.

Everything works file under VMWare, but at the E450 machine boot hangs after:
"Scanning hard disk partitions to create /erc/fstab"

I've disabled the SATA controller (and any unneeded on-board peripherals), because I only use the USB stick.

Also noticeable, that from udev startup I see kernel output, which I did not with VMWare. (Kernel outpus starts with: "BUG: unable to handle paging request at 88b8ff05".)

Please help!

Thanks,
Balazs

With "nofstab" option I'm able to finish the boot, but this time I do not have my set up operation system. :(

It seams that the "modprobe scsi_wait_scan" hangs to boot with this hardware. (Kernel 3.0.21)

You could try the "blacklist" boot code, and also try to boot without disabling the SATA controller.

Thx. I don't know how to blacklist something, and I don't know what you mean about boot code. :)
Any way. Commenting out the modprobe for the scsi in the core.cpio with a text editor worked. Now I can boot in as expected.
Thanks again.

Also try removing any SDCards that are installed.  I find this often causes some machines to hang

I would try to boot it with a knoppix USB and play around with the bootcodes.
In any case, a description of the hardware: MoBo, CPU, .. (with a liveCD or a liveUSB of another distro?) is welcome.
When you have analysed the Hardware, we can implement TinyCore.
