Title: F2FS
Post by: spence91 on February 26, 2013, 11:32:05 AM
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/F2FS

It's a new(ish) file system that's designed for Flash devices. SSDs, SD cards, etc.

Might be something worthwhile to incorporate into Tinycore? It may well speed things up even more.

WIKIPEDIA article states it is supported in LINUX kernel 3.8 Also as it is a new file system I would wait at least one year before any production use.

Yep, the 3.8 kernel was released merely a week ago (+ 1 day).

Yes - I got excited reading the linux release notes.

If I try to apply the tinycore patches to the new kernel and compile, will the older libraries packages still work fine?

TC will run with vanilla kernels too, our patches aren't essential to running (merely cosmetic, speed improvements etc.).

However none of the extensions containing modules or depending on extensions containing modules will work.
