2) I can peek inside using strings but my memory thinks I used to be able to use mc
can anyone get the same error using mc against files under /lib
3) Is it fixable or nothing to worry about?
cheers and thanks for reading

Just based on the warning:
Have you got file.tcz installed?
-
tinypoodle
I hadn't but just loaded and error remains
thanks for quick reply
-
Hi aus9
Do you have binutils.tcz installed?
-
Rich
I hadn't, just did and same error
-
ok maybe I forgot what type of file I was peeking into in the past?
but image is expected behaviour so its solved

In mc, that file appears as a green "script" or executable and so until I peek inside it ,
or run file against it
or run strings against it
------but mc is quicker
.....................................I never know whether its a sh or bash script etc
