Hi,
I'm using Xorg 7.6 and experiencing typical "SiSMapMem () failed" problem loading Curaga's SIS video driver (xf86-video-sis). Description of the package says that it has been "Patched for unmapmem". My question is how to launch it without mapping the memory which prevents X from loading. Funny thing is that it starts occasionally without any errors... Once started is rock stable and performs well. Usually starts 3 times out of 16 attempts. Please help. Thanks.

Don't have an answer or suggestion but am reporting a similar problem just experienced here. Xorg-7.6+xf86-video-sis (also tried with xf86-video-all as an experiment). Consistently, in both cases X fails to start.

The problem with the video driver was apparently solved by the following patch:
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/attachment.cgi?id=65629&action=edit
Does anyone could help adding it to the driver?
I wouldn't mind losing GUI functionality but i can't start rdesktop without running X first. The video driver is essential for smooth RDC experience. It works terribly slow on both fbdev and vesa. Is there a way of running rdesktop without X?
