hi friends,
ffmpeg made a new major release (1.0). It contains all features and bugfixes of the git master branch.
all new features can be read at http://ffmpeg.org/
ffmpeg is so rich for so many multimedia-features.
give it a try.
-
does this mean you're compiling ffmpeg-1.0 or are you asking somebody to do it?
BTW, would we call it ffmpeg again or ffmpeg-1.0 - i.e. is the ABI going to be stable for a while?

hi juanito,
i'm asking for somebody to do it.
BTW, would we call it ffmpeg again or ffmpeg-1.0 - i.e. is the ABI going to be stable for a while?
sorry, i don't know enough about the changes of the api of ffmpeg.
thank you for your interest and your help.
-
OK, so - ffmpeg and friends posted.
In the hope that the api won't change within the ffmpeg-1.0 series, the extensions have been named plain ffmpeg, libavcodec, libavdevice, etc
The recursive deps are somewhat complicated - please let me know if you see a mistake.

hi
not an expert but I decided to build a package against the ffmpeg-0.00-dev. (yet to upload new package still testing)
Will that maintainer need to update?
or do I now try to rebuild against libavcodec-dev (and similar packages)?
2) I see a nice list of recent updates here
http://distro.ibiblio.org/tinycorelinux/4.x/updates/updatelist.txt
Would it be too much work to include deletions in that same file?
3) re:libavcodec and the like.....should we now delete libavcodecnn?
cheers

up to you - ffmpeg-1.0 is the latest and hopefully stable so it might be a good idea.
3) re:libavcodec and the like.....should we now delete libavcodecnn?
other extensions may need them and might not work against the latest libav* so the answer is not straightforward. If you do decide to recompile your app, you'd need to take care that libavcodecnn was not loaded.

ffmpeg.tcz has tags of "record covert stream audio video"
in apps panel if I just do a search for ffmpeg, I don't get the latest in hit list.
Nor if I try tag search for "record"
Looking at vlc, vlc is mentioned in the tags so I wonder if info file just needs an adjustment or have I misunderstood (again)
nope thats not right!
if I search for libva, its tags do not include itself, but I get the hit.
hmmm
only way my 6 brain cells can get ffmpeg is to just scroll down the list after clicking on browse and not using any of the following search for "Provides/Tags/Search"
any clues? (other than being stupid)
-
I just tried this with the apps gui in tc-4.7rc4
Entering "ffmpeg" with the "search" button finds ffmpeg*
Entering "record" or "video" with the "tags" button finds ffmpeg
Maybe the changes hadn't propagated through to the mirrors when you tried?
-
time must be the answer and that proves I am impatient ....eh?
ok on TC 4.6.2 all work now as expected except provides, maybe if I wait long enough that too will come over?
Is this some kind of /tmp/tags.lst and /tmp/tags.db issue?
EDIT Just deleted those files and redid command tce-update, then back into apps provides is only gremlin.
IMHO it is supposed to find /usr/local/bin/ffmpeg on TC 32 bit

hi
I can see a number of libavcodec*-dev but can't see a ffmpeg-dev.tcz?
-
that's correct - the dev files are with the appropriate libav*, etc
-
I won't hijack the theme of this post any longer. I do have an issue with the libavcodec-dev but its probably my lack of skills.
If interested I started a new thread here
