Do you know what would be really amazingly awesome? Having a X display manager in the repository.
I've tried getting some to work (xdm, lxdm, lightdm), but I've not succeeded. Is anyone else successfully running a X display manager on TinyCore 4.5.x ? If you could offer any pointers on getting one running I would be extremely grateful. I'm running a multi-user system and doing all logging in with the busybox applet isn't very nice, especially for users who aren't very skilled with computers.
Thanks,

mhm. strange, I have yet to meet someone who doesnt't understand that typical User: Password: prompt.

Especially since the display managers have them also.

I've run both slim and xdm in earlier TC series, but both had their quirks and so it's understandable they aren't in the current repo.

True, the prompt is easy enough to understand. There are two main issues with it:
1) Every 60 seconds the prompt times out. If a user is entering his credentials at this point, he will hove to start over.
2) If you accidentally enter the wrong username, you can't go back and change the username. Instead, you just enter the wrong password and hit enter.
Anyway, if no one want to create an extension I'm sure I can live without it. Perhaps someday I'll have learned enough to do it myself. :D Also since no one else is running a display manager it is probably better that no one submits one since, generally speaking, it is best when a developer actually uses the software that he is maintaining.
