I installed the current version of TCL to my hard drive and on booting I get:
EXT4-fs (sdb9): couldn't mount as ext3 due to feature incompatibilities
Kernel panic - not syncing: No init found. try passing init= option to kernel
Pid: 1, comm: swapper Not tainted 3.021-tinycore #3021
Call Trace:
[<c04124fb>] ? 0xc04124fb
and for more lines similar to this.
There is no problem on my flash drive installation.
I installed as well from that flash drive and get the same kernel panic as when installed from CD.
How to resolve?
-
Sounds like the initrd wasn't loaded. How did you install? Are the installed bootloader config files fine, is the initrd on the hd, uncorrupted?
-
I installed following the installer instructions. I cannot see any initrd on the HD of the TCL partition nor on the flash drive installation.
If I boot from the CD it says initrd=/boot/core.gz. Therefore, how do I pass this information to the kernel when booting into the HD installation if this is what I am missing?
-
You don't.
The bootloader, not the kernel loads the initrd.
Edit your bootloader config file.

Thanks! Worked like a charm and fast. ;D :D :)

hello ordep,
can i know the detailed steps that you took to solve this issue as I am super new to Linux system ? I am facing the same issue. What I am trying to do here is to is to boot-up my remastered iso image from a USB flash drive. I encountered this problem after choosing a window manager option.
many thanks in advance !

Chose a window manager option how or where exactly?
-
hey,
im refering to the start-up option in which users could chose which windows manager to boot up with.
