Title: Unable to get any type of sound mixer to load

I was hoping for the graphical sound mixer ossxmix I installed it, went to use it, and nothing happens. any terminal or graphical mixer won't load so I can't raise the volume at all which is very low. Any ideas?

What do you get if you open a terminal and enter  ossmix
