If you are using a USB connected drive then hit the Tab key and add
waitusb=5
Pressing the function keys lists waitusb as needed for slow devices.
-
not using a usb device, booting off cdrom, will try your recommendation
-
boot: waitusb=5
Could not find kernel image: waitusb=5
-
Hi lmart
boot: waitusb=5
After hitting tab, add waitusb=5 to the end of the command line.
-
did just that; did it again, same response
boot: (tab)
microcore mc
waitusb=5
Could not find kernel image: waitusb=5
tc@box:~$
on same desktop, CorePlus-4.4 LiveCD works, CorePlus-4.5.1 LiveCD does not, what changed?

Hi lmart
After it boots, does dmesg indicate any errors?
-
RobertS:
CorePlus-4.4 presents the menu you printed below.
CorePlus-4.5.1 never makes it to the menu. It responds exactly as I reported.
Rich:
Not familiar with dmesg; what specifically would you like me to check?
Also, when it boots, a lot of messages fly by on the screen. What can I do to capture that output, review it and, send it to you if necessary?
Is there any possibility that the iso file on the download page is corrupt?
Thanks.
-
Ah, then check your md5sum of the iso or perhaps a bad burn?
Server side checks out OK.
-
RobertS:
In my 1st post, I identified the iso, the md5sum check and the burn log. Since my original post, I downloaded the iso 3 separate times and, burned the iso 3 spearate times; no difference in the outcome.
To help me help you, what else should I provide to help you troubleshoot?
-
Your first post shows you burning Core-4.5.1.iso not CorePlus-4.5.1.iso.
-
Hi lmart
I think gerald_clark identified you problem, but for future reference, dmesg | less will allow you to see what dmesg
reported. PageUP/PageDown to navigate, q to quit.
Also, change your cdrecord command to insert some padding like this:
cdrecord dev=1,0,0 speed=10 padsize=63s -pad -dao -v -eject Filename.iso
Use:
cdrecord -scanbus
to make sure you are using the correct drive.
-
gerald_clark:
Thanks. I posted the wrong output. The corrected output follows. Wondering if the iso on the download site is corrupt.
cd /mnt/sda2/tinycore

Hi lmart
sh-4.1# md5sum -c CorePlus-4.5.1.iso.md5.txt
CorePlus-4.5.1.iso: OK
sh-4.1# cdrecord dev=1,0,0 speed=10 padsize=63s -pad -dao -v -eject Core-4.5.1.iso
TOC Type: 1 = CD-ROM
According to that, you burned the wrong ISO. Should be:
cdrecord dev=1,0,0 speed=10 padsize=63s -pad -dao -v -eject CorePlus-4.5.1.iso
-
The labels you reference (microcore mc ) are only found on the Core-4.5.1.iso
Your cdrecord log shows 7MB another indication that you are buring the wrong image.
TinyCore-4.5.1.iso is 12MB
CorePlus-4.5.1.iso is 65MB
-
Well gents, it works. Thanks. The net; stupid is as stupid does.
