uwm (@http://sourceforge.net/projects/uwm/#screenshots) could be a winner. It's fast, light and iconic so perhaps ii's repo material. Until fltk is ported to xcb it may be a interesting alternative to flwm.
-
Just curious, do you actually see some visible benefit from it using xcb?
-
Only the benefit they claim (@http://xcb.freedesktop.org/./Features/). Their focus appears to be speed, stability and small footprint. They don't seem to indicate what they are sacrificing to achieve this.

Looked kinda cool to play with................ :-X

Generic (marketing) statement.

If there is a deal breaker it might be found here (@http://xcb.freedesktop.org/XCBToDo/). Although xcb may need improvement it appears to be at the least an interesting alternative to xlib.
