Title: TCL 4.2.1 Filezilla FTP client stops after start
Post by: beerstein on February 13, 2012, 03:37:22 PM
I was looking for a good ftp client for TCL 4.X and installed Filezilla from the
repo. It installed OK but after starting the Filezilla app shows up on the screen and than disappears again.
Any ideas?
Or is there any other good ftp client?

FileZilla works fine with stock TC 4.2.0

Start in terminal and see error messages if any. Check extensions aginst corruption. Low RAM, certain CPU may cause problems too.

Do you need GUI? There are several command-line clients, I personally like the GNU one (in inetutils).

Hi beerstein
I see the same thing on a Dell with a Pentium III (Coppermine) under TC4.1. Running it from a terminal I get
   "illegal instrucion"
I'm using  ftp  from  inetutils  since I'm always updating the same few files every time.

Filezilla itself is compiled to be compatible with P3. Maybe one of its dependencies are not.

Thank you for your help.
I am using an older  AMD Athlon 1GHz, 500 MB RAM. I will try it on another machine.

I know that I could use mc to ftp but I need to find out how. I will also take a look at the "inetutils"
