-w: ask for permission before overwriting a new file version in the existing backup
(-i:) inform when a file was deleted from the backup (it was deleted before from the .filetool.lst)
?
I had the case before where my resolv.conf file (for an usb modem) from a backup, was overwritten from a log into a wlan net.
When I made a backup later, I was not informed the file was automatic overwritten from wifi.sh
It took time to find the resolv.conf was overwritten during a backup.

Any warnings would be great.
Like I would use:
filetool.sh -b for the first backup (or brutal backups)
filetool.sh -bw for asking if an existing file can be overwritten by a new version (Informations could be published if a file was deleted..).
I came to this idea because I was wondering the quality of the script "tce-update" where update/not updates information are on the screen during the script execution.

I found other options, have you tried typing "backup" at the terminal? I know it's not what floppy had in mind but maybe more options exist already??

Typing filetool.sh at the prompt shows current options.
Usage: filetool.sh options device
Where options are:
-b backup
-p prompt
-r restore
-s safe backup mode
-d dry run backup
backup as a convenience option was added for 4.2 it is in the 4.2 announcement post.
