Title: icecat - new version 9.0.1 released by gnu
Post by: netnomad on December 29, 2011, 02:46:04 PM
hi jason w,

gnu released a new version 9.0.1 for icecat.
http://ftp.gnu.org/gnu/gnuzilla/ (http://ftp.gnu.org/gnu/gnuzilla/)
i really enjoy some aspect of the security-pre-configuration of icecat.

it would be great to benefit also from the enhancements of the new release.

thank you for your help and commitment.

Thanks, I have been wondering when they would release a new one past 7.x,  I will get to it hopefully tonight.

hi jason w,

my first heavy testing proved that it's a good piece of software, thanks again.

by the way, icecat is usable for almost everything, but not flash.
do you share the experience that flash sides result in a frozen icecat browser.
i have to kill the browser and after removing the lock file i can restart icecat again.
i don't mind, cause i use this browser for all despite flash,
for heavy multimedia stuff i take minefield9.

what do you think, what's your experience?

I have seen the same thing, and have seen that others have the same experience.  Icecat's developer has shown
little interest in the issue Icecat has with flash, so I guess we are just stuck with no flash for Icecat.
