Title: wireless setup
Post by: feddozz on November 22, 2011, 01:23:02 PM
Hi,

up to some months ago i used to set up wireless in the following way:
- i downloaded network.gz. Wireless worked out of the box.
- Used lspci to spot the wireless driver. Downloaded it from the Apps Browser.
- Downloaded WICD and set it up.

Now the starter packs are obsolete, wicd is no longer part of the apps browser list. I do not remember the wireless driver. The wiki still talks about WICD.

Could you suggest how i go about it?

thanks

The equivalent of network.gz is included in multicore. See http://distro.ibiblio.org/tinycorelinux/downloads.html (http://distro.ibiblio.org/tinycorelinux/downloads.html)

I presumed so. I had problems booting multicore from usb. I managed to resolve it. wireless now works.
thanks

FWIW Multicore is an isohybrid therefore a simple dd'ing the iso image to usb will often, at least on newer machines, boot.

Yes, I saw that guide. dd didn't work for me. Neither unebootin which works fine with tinycore-current.iso and almost everithing else.

I got there in the end which is the most important thing.
