OSS_alsa.tcz depends on alsa-plugins.tcz which depends on alsa.tcz Installing OSS_alsa.tcz whole ALSA system is installed which is not intented.
-
Ping Jason, what was the story of alsa-config and friends?
-
alsa.tcz alsa-dev.tcz alsaconf.tcz libasound.tcz are the ones I have dealt with. alsaconf.tcz exists because I was asked to factor out the alsaconf script as it depends on bash and other stuff not needed for normal alsa use.
I am not familiar with nor have ever used any of the other alsa related extensions.
-
In the earlier days, alsa-config had the data files currently in alsa.tcz, which made it possible to use alsa apps on top of OSS, at least that's how I remember it.
OTOH, it must not have many users, seeing it went this long without being reported.

Ok, I was unaware that the current setup was an issue, we can split it back up that way.
-
To save starting another thread - I have just noticed on downloading alsa to a fresh installation of TC4.1rc2 that alsa-modules-2.6.33.3-tinycore.tcz is listed as a dependent of alsa. the 3.0.3 modules were downloaded by AppBrowser, even though not listed as a dependent.

Probably the answer is there: http://forum.tinycorelinux.net/index.php/topic,11856.0.html (http://forum.tinycorelinux.net/index.php/topic,11856.0.html)

alsa-config.tcz is now factored out like before, though I don't use apps that make use of that split to test it's usefulness, but hopefully it is correct.

Did a quick test in Qemu, worked ok.

If that's the case it doesn't help in weeding out unused files from the TCE directory after upgrading TC3 -> TC4 as one of the sources of information on what is still required is the information provided by AppBrowser.
