i like my standard font f.e. sans-serif in minefield or icecat.
but after loading openoffice3 with it's dependency dejavu-fonts-ttf.tcz,
my standard font in other programs f.e. sans-serif in minefield or icecat
is changed to a very wide, hard to read font.
do you see there a way to change this behaviour?

Someone should make a wiki entry for font configuration.

Is this a candidate for a font configuration interface extension or potential inclusion within base?
-
I'm not sure what you mean, Sam.
But as there are multiple layers where font configuration might happen there should be a list of them.
e.g. I only know the freetype config with it's antialiasing, hinting and standard font substitutions, but stuff like gnome, kde and qt might be using their own configuration.

The basic idea of providing additional information is a good one.
On reflection my question may be a little off topic, and possibly better suited to a different thread.
Changing the default fonts used by TC seems to crop up quite often. I was thinking along the lines of working at a more fundamental level as shown in this topic:

Having some form of interface to conduct such changes and preview a change before committing it would be useful.
