i cannot get tiny core to load on this old laptop
any suggestions?

Be more specific. What have you tried (CD, USB, ---) and what happened? WHat messages were displayed if any?

Ubuntu 11 and Puppy Linux
Bought Tiny Core
Show all the loading messages then get blank screen with flashing cursor

What do you mean "Bought Tiny Core"?
What version are you trying to load, and how are you loading it?

TCL is freely downloadable.

Last TCL 3 version is 3.8.4.
Current version is 4.0
I suggest the multicore CD as it has more boot options.
