What happened to "firewall-2.6.29.1-tinycore.tcz" ?
-
Hi bigpcman
It's still listed in the 2.x repository. http://distro.ibiblio.org/tinycorelinux/tcz_2x.html
-
The firewall extension for 3.x is called netfilter-.
-
is there much diff btwn 2.x and 3.x firewall ?
I am still using 2.x fw and am happy using it ! :)

3.x supports more filtering options.

Are they much important for a common user like me ?
Actually you had so buetifully explained all the minute details of firewall setup in one of my security thread - ''how much tinycore is secured..'' or something like that long ago.. I am still using the same setup for my most of the online security needs...thanks to you and all other who guided me in that discusion.
by the way I heard that now a days real threats are more hidden in newly updated / developed packages rathar than firewall.. do`nt know much...

No, the changes shouldn't be important to common use.

Well I'm embarrassed to ask but better be safe then sorry , I downloaded iptables from the appbrowser and I have it set in onboot.lst but does netfilter have to be in onboot.lst in order for the firewall to work ?
Also how do I check if the firewall is working ?
-
netfilter is a dependency of iptables. Do nothing, TC will take care.

Well tank ya bmarkus 8)
