If I do update dep files, then do update apps, whenever dep files were changed, the app in question no longer works.
Example: vlc has new jack libs dependency, therefore not on my pc. Update dep files, update vlc, now vlc is broken, missing that (and other) dep.
* Suggestion: Introduce feedback to the user notifying them of missing deps when loading the app in question, suggesting/asking if dep can be downloaded, or download automatically.
* Suggestion: Introduce additional menu item/button in appbrowser to download missing deps.
Current situation seems to require either deletion of app and re-downloading it with appbrowser and therefore all its apps, or manually downloading deps.

SOP is to select "Find Missing Dependencies" Very useful after selecting "Update .dep files" and "Build Reporting Database". AppsAudit is an auditing tool. AppBrowser is the downloading and loading tool.

I followed all those steps before this post. As far as I could see, there is no option to download those missing dependencies after finding them. I tried to see what would happen by clicking on them in AppsAudit, but I did not see any option.
So I think this is quite a serious issue: Any function which breaks apps after updating, requiring manual intervention, will leave users especially non-power users with reduced functionality.
IMHO the ideal situation is one where all things just work afterwards, no questions asked. I still cannot recommend tc to my colleague as his working environment due to this issue. He cannot afford to spend time fixing stuff which previously worked fine after performing updates.

I have now added this feature to tce-audit and the GUI AppsAudit. Look for it starting with v3.8rc3.
