Title: mplayer - how to use with web cam
Post by: Tuftec on July 12, 2011, 07:02:22 AM
I am trying to get mplayer working on my system.
I have previuosly tried to use cheese and wxcam (which have a GUI interface).

How do I use mplayer with my web cam.
The help screen does not give me much idea how to use it.

Peter.

As posted, "mplayer tv://". If that doesn't show a picture, please post the output of mplayer and dmesg.

Oh, seems mplayer doesn't know of the format output by your webcam.

You could try if updating to the latest -nodeps helps.

Eurecka.

No joy with that cam. Found another pencil cam kicking about and bingo. It works with mplayer and wxcam.
Cheese is still a bit dodgy. Crashes after a few frames are displayed.
