Installing TC in USB without CD
« on: May 09, 2011, 01:20:42 PM »
During my search for fastest boot time OS , I found about TC. After reading through the wiki and Intro, TC seems to be really cool. I tried to transfer the image to a USB stick and unsuccessfully tried to make it bootable. It seems that only way to install TC in a USB is to make a CD but my CD/DVD drive is broken. I tried to google for the solution but couldn't find any simple one (that I understood).

I am running ubuntu 11.04.Can you please help me to find a way to put TC to a USB and make it bootable ?

Thank you
shankhs

isohybrid tinycore-current.iso
dd if=tinycore.iso of=/dev/sdX

The shortest instructions ;) any of the install guides work on usb just as fine as on HD. There's no need to use the installer, everything can be accomplished manually as well.

edit: apt-get install syslinux if you don't have isohybrid.

The only barriers that can stop you are the ones you create yourself.

you can also try multibootisos,
so you can boot different isos with only one usbstick.

Many people see what is. Some people see what can be, and make a difference.
