Show files on desktop
« on: April 01, 2011, 08:05:47 PM »
How do I make TC show file icons on the Desktop, as they are stored in the /home/tc/Desktop directory?

Ideally allowing the user to right click on the files to see their properties or even copy-paste them.

You need to choose a windows manager that does this.

or rox-filer would be a wm independent option.
This subject has been discussed in detail before, you may search for it.

Xfce4 would be candidate for this. please check out the new extension here.

BTW: Is there info available on how the icons and the app text description are
brought into that wbar on the bottom on the screen?

Sometimes I have a broken icon, but can see the description. I even can click on it.
and start the app and after I end the app the icon is visible and look good - strange?
t(w)o be(ers) or not t(w)o be(ers) that is the question

Perhaps use iDesk. I haven't tried it, but it's in the repository.
