I see now that's what rebuildfstab uses with the help of fstype.
And autoscan from tc-functions uses blkid directly.
I also found a getdisklabel, uuid and a mountables.sh script, but not where they are actually used.

mnttool uses mountables.sh, can't recall where the others are used.
