can i install avira av on tinycore? creating /usr/lib/Antivir ... failed

hi,

i have been able to install avira av on at least a couple of ubuntu OS's, but it doesn't work on tinycore (YET).  i have included the output of the terminal.

i have also ran the command:
mkdir /usr/lib/Anti


here is more relevant info after this command is ran:


creating /usr/lib/AntiVir ... already exists
1) installing command line scanner

is there any chance of getting this to work on tinycore?

You were able to manually create the /usr/lib/AntiVir directory, so this does not look like a permission problem.

A "shot in the dark:" I could imagine that Avira's installation script expects the GNU tools to be installed, and that it uses command line parameters for "mkdir," "cp," "install," and "mv" that are unknown to the busybox tools.  Do you have the GNU tools (coreutils, and perhaps also util-linux) installed?

I didn't know about such tools, so the answer is no.  great suggestion.
I will look through the appbrowser and see what is offered.

i installed gnome-utils.tcz

it was the only extension that i could find that i thought met the criteria.
i'll see how it works, perhaps i need to reboot as well.

I don't know what the "gnome-utils" do, but I doubt that they will help here.

I found coreutils by entering "coreutils" (without quotation marks; no blank between the two words; no dash) into the AppBrowser's search field.

Util-linux is also there, found when entering "util-linux" into the AppBrowser's search field (no quotation marks; no blank between the words, but a dash).

i carried out your suggestion.  the search option for 'coreutils' delivered 'coreutils.tcz'
i installed 'coreutils.tcz', checked apps audit and ensured that the extensions were listed as 'onboot'

i also searched for 'util-linux' and was given these relevant extensions:
base-dev.tcz
util-linux-ng-dev.tcz
util-linux-ng-locale.tcz
util-linux-ng.tcz
after installation i verified all extensions were listed on the 'onboot' list in appsaudit.


the installation failed in the same way as before.  i haven't rebooted yet, i will try that and let you know what happens.

even after rebooting i am still getting the same errors.

thanks for the suggestions, Frank, even though i couldn't install avira av, i think these are great extensions.  i am enthusiastic wondering what they do.
